Use Corrugated Metal Roofing

Use Corrugated Metal Roofing

Corrugated roofing offers protection to your metal roof. Its rippled metal sheets used with roofing systems. It is commonly found in commercial, industrial and even agricultural systems. Since the1800’s metal roofing has been used because of the many advantages it offers, but it was until a few years ago that it really became popular again.

The corrugated metal roof is galvanized and that protects the metal from the elements. Such as air water and salt water. It is corrosion proof and can last for more then 50 years. Compare that to asphalt or architectural shingles that if your lucky will last 10 to 15 years.

New technological developments in green roofing and building systems have used the corrugated roofing in a water recycling system. Since the rain water that runs down the metal roof will be rust free and chemical free it can be reused for watering plants and put into storage units to be purified more to even drink. Usually it is used for the sprinkler system.

This roofing system may in fact be the most durable roofing material available on the market today. I know you may be thinking your house isn’t going to look good, but modern roofing sheets are available in a wide variety of colors and even have designs in them to look like asphalt shingles. Metal shingles also conserve energy it holds heat in the winter and reflects the sun to keep heat out in the summer and if you live in a climate with very hot weather with the sun being stronger I recommend using the corrugated metal roofing system over any other system.

You have five main sources of insulation material that can be used under the metal sheets. The most popular is the big foam sheets that help with moisture and help insulate your house even more. You can spray polymethane foam, fiber pellets, rigid fibers or even special blankets can be used.

You need to follow the manufactures exact instructions or make sure your contractor does so you don’t get your warranty voided. Make sure everything is up to industry standards and that all is up to date with your local building codes.

You can hire professionals to clean the metal sheets, repair or simply replace sections of the roof as time goes on. If you do develop any leaks applications have been developed to be applied as necessary on the metal sheets.
